The city of Kostroma, Russia. Known as “the soul of Russia” was in need of a new logo. The logo, like the city's culture, is built on tradition. The designer, Natalia Chobanu, said the shape of the logo was directly inspired from cultural artefacts like a 'kokoshnik' - a traditional Russian headdress for women and also part of an old map. Those inspirations were taken and abstracted into geometrical forms. Seen here in the finished logo, which looks contemporary for the older Russian city.
Based on the three-letter code of Philadelphia International Airport. The logo takes “PHL” as its acronym. Potentially as an attempt to build three-letter name recognition like, NYC (New York), or ATL (Atlanta). The design of the logo is simple, with PHL in a square. The interesting feature of the logo being the "stem-less 'P'". The basic design, gives the logo some flexibility, as it can be used and adapted for any applications that require it.
